Excellent read on how the paperback books format that we take for granted right now was a disruptive force to the book industry in the late 1930s. “The industry,” from writers to publishing houses to bookstores, rejected it at first, citing that nobody would want to switch from large hardcovers to a small, flimsy format. Kind of like, yes, the way the old-timers are rejecting the digital age right now.
